Description
This is a beautiful steel rondel. Made sharp and strong, this is what any knight needs! Wooden handle, with a leather and steel shod sheath.
Cold Steels Rondel Dagger has a piercing blade with a triangular cross-section which is forged from 1065 high carbon steel and deeply blued for a finish. Each plane of the blade is hollow ground to reduce unnecessary weight and to minimize drag when puncturing a target for maximum effectiveness. The grip is blackened Rosewood set with brass pins and it is surmounted by blackened steel rondels to form its guard and pommel plate. The rondels are enhanced with precise, decorative file work and ably serve not only as a guard, but as pressure points for the hand to push against when piercing a target.
Included is a black leather scabbard with a blued steel chape and locket; a leather lanyard allows for it to be tied or slung to your belt.
A utilitarian weapon of medieval warfare, the Rondel dagger forgoes any pretense of cutting for a design which maximizes the power and effect of a piercing strike. It is designed to be thrust into the gaps in plate armor and break through mail and thick cloth beneath to deliver a coup-de-gras to a crippled or dazed opponent – or to end a fierce dagger-and-hand armored grapple. The blade is designed to be a rigid and unyielding to not only increases its puncturing power, but also allow the blade to be used as a lever to be inserted into defensive weak points and then bend and break apart gaps in armor for a final push through the opponents defense. In such situations, the pommel rondel could be palmed with the second hand to drive the blade through even dense mail and armored padding.
In a close-in medieval melee, armored opponents facing a foe with a Rondel dagger could find their fight ended with a conclusively gruesome stab through the gaps in their armor or even the eye slits of their helmets.
