1. Is your gear safe?
Yes. Every item we stock is tested by experienced HEMA practitioners in Canada, the USA, and Mexico. If we find a product unsafe, poorly made, or unfit for HEMA or Western Martial Arts, we don’t sell it. We take safety seriously and only offer gear that meets our standards for quality and protection.

3. What happens after I place an order
When you place an order on our Sword Gear:
We pack your equipment for shipping,
Calculate the shipping cost,
Send you a PayPal invoice or, for Canadian orders, an eTransfer invoice,
Once payment is complete, we ship your HEMA gear to you.
4. May I order by phone?
While we prefer online orders, you may place an order by phone at +1-780-966-6022 between 9am–5pm MST.
5. What does shipping cost?
Shipping costs are calculated per order on a cost-recovery basis. You’ll receive an accurate quote once your gear is packed. We do our best to keep international HEMA shipping rates fair and transparent.
6. What is your return policy?
We inspect all HEMA sparring equipment before shipping. If damage occurs during shipping or we miss a defect, we’ll replace the item.
Please take 7 or more clear photos of the damage and packaging from a variety of angles,and retain the packaging and item(s), as our shipping insurance requires this.
Returns for any other reason require items to be unused and in resalable condition. Return shipping for non-defective returns is the buyer’s responsibility.
7. Is a deposit required on custom orders?
Yes. Custom sword or armor orders require a non-refundable deposit of $100 CAD or 50% of the product value, whichever is higher. Be sure to confirm your design and measurements before placing a custom order.
8. Is layaway/hire purchase available?
In some cases, yes. Please contact usdirectly to discuss payment plans or special arrangements.
9. May I pick up my order in person?
Yes. Local pickup is available in Edmonton, Alberta. If you are in the area, feel free to contact us to arrange a convenient pickup time.
10. Why do you need my phone number?
Couriers and shipping services need your phone number in case of delivery issues. It helps ensure smooth and accurate delivery of your HEMA gear.
11. Is it possible to get a discount?
Yes, bulk discounts may be possible for bulk orders. This is decided on an individual basis.
It's nice to be able to get custom HEMA gear, especially when standard sizes don't fit you. For me, that important, because I'm one of those people who doesn't fit standard sizes too well. I never did. So, I've gotten my gear made custom, and there are a lot of customers who do. what can be customizes? Well, through Sword Gear, it's jackets, pants, and the Gabriel and Michael gloves. While no-one has, yet, order custom Michaels, several pairs of Gabriel gloves have been ordered custom.Another happy customer with his customized jacket. All jackets and pants that are custom sized and custom colours are customized with no extra charge. There are additional prints available on custom jackets and pants, which do cost a little extra, however. Want a brocade print? That can be done! Customizing gloves does cost more (~$100 CDN). Yet, it can be so worth it for the comfort, fit, and knowing that you're really protected! Oh, and Wukusi swords have interchangeable parts, so there is a modicum of customization available with those (see picture, below). And, of course, the Burgundian gorgets are all customized, as these are made to order! With these, you pick your leather and rivets colours and your size, then it's made just for you.
